Team India outclassed New Zealand in all aspects of the game to win the third ODI at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on October 29. The outcome helped Harmanpreet Kaur and co. clinch the three-match series by a 2-1 margin.

Brooke Halliday shared a valiant 64-run partnership with wicketkeeper-batter Isabella Gaze to take New Zealand past the 150-run mark. Forming another 47 runs with Hannah Rowe, each of the three batters were dismissed by Deepti Sharma as the Indian spinner bagged sensational figures of 3-39 from her 10 overs.
For New Zealand, Halliday top-scored in the innings with 86 runs from 96 balls. The 29-year-old all-rounder listed nine boundaries and three sixes in the process to set up New Zealand’s 232-run total after crashing to 88-5 at one stage of the match. Lea Tahuhu at number nine also chipped in with a handy 24* from 14 balls in the slog overs.

Chasing 233, India lost opening batter Shafali Verma for just a run-a-ball 12 in the fourth over of the match. Fortunately for the hosts, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana consolidated India’s pursuit with a cunning 76-run partnership for the second wicket with number three batter Yastika Bhatia (35 off 49 balls).
Bhatia was eventually caught and bowled by Sophie Devine as India lost its second wicket at 92 in 21 overs.

At 92-2, unbeaten opener Smriti Mandhana went on to mount a match-defining 117-run partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur to take India past the 200-run mark.
During the course of their marathon effort, Mandhana notched up her eighth ODI hundred, scoring 100 runs from 122 balls with 10 boundaries before getting knocked over by Hannah Rowe (2-47).
Harmanpreet Kaur launched eight boundaries off her own, including the winning hit, to craft a belligerent 70* from 68 balls. Despite losing Jemimah Rodrigues at the brink of the finishing line, Team India mowed down their target with six wickets and nearly five overs to spare to clinch their three-match series by a 2-1 margin.
