Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has broken his silence after landing in trouble through a controversial post-match interview with Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood. Shortly after Pakistan’s drought-ending series win over England at home, commentator Ramiz seemingly crossed the professional lines by jokingly asking Masood about his preceding six straight defeats as Pakistan captain.
The prominent cricketing personality has since landed in trouble, both with the Pakistan cricket fans and reportedly with the PCB. Moreover, reports emerged that the PCB will likely be taking action against Ramiz Raja, and there is a slight possibility that the expert will not be travelling to Australia next month as part of the commendatory team.
Ramiz Raja breaks silence after Criticism
Ramiz Raja has now broken his silence on his controversial interview with Shan Masood. Taking to his YouTube channel, Ramiz explained that he simply asked a couple of questions and he was not intending to belittle anyone or put Pakistan’s series win in a negative light.
Under the leadership of Shan Masood, Pakistan succumbed to six straight losses before upstaging England twice in October to claim a rare series win. The outcome not only marked Pakistan’s first Test win in over a year, but also marked Pakistan’s first series win at home in nearly four years.
As of now, it remains to be seen if former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja will be travelling to Australia as part of the commentary team.
The Pakistan cricket team will soon be taking flight for Australia and will play a series of three ODIs and three T20I matches between November 4 and November 18.
Earlier this month, the PCB announced Pakistan’s squad for the impending white-ball series in Australia. Interestingly, the board dropped another controversial player from the line-up in the form of blistering opener Fakhar Zaman, amidst his disciplinary troubles that rose with questioning PCB’s decision of dropping Babar Azam from England Tests and for mocking the board’s restricted policies of handing out NOCs to players.
