Team India devoured the visiting Irish women in the third ODI to complete a 3-0 series sweep on Wednesday, January 15. Captain Smriti Mandhana and opening partner Pratika Rawal hammered down big centuries to lead India’s record day out at Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Stadium.

Here’s the timeline of how IND-W vs IRE-W panned out in Rajkot:

IND-W vs IRE-W Highlights: Mandhana, Rawal Share 233-Run Stand

India’s stand-in skipper Smriti Mandhana forged a 233-run partnership in just 26.4 overs with young opening partner Pratika Rawal. Mandhana notched up her tenth ODI century and reached the landmark figure from just 70 balls to record the fastest individual 100 ever by any Indian women’s player.

Rawal listed her third successive 50-plus score and converted it into her maiden ODI ton, minting 154 runs in all from just 129 balls. The Indian skipper, on the other hand, smeared 135 off just 80 deliveries before she was holed out by Ava Canning off Orla Prendergast to give Ireland a much-needed breakthrough.

IND-W vs IRE-W Highlights: Rawal, Richa Ghosh Set Up India’s First-Ever 400

Following Smriti Mandhana’s dismissal, Pratika Rawal shared another 104 runs with wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh for the third wicket to take India past the 300-run mark. Ghosh plundered an attacking 42-ball 59 in the partnership before she was cleaned up by Arlene Kelly at 337-2.

Pratika Rawal also had her innings halted at 154 by Freya Sargent after taking India to the brink of its first-ever team 400.

Tejal Hasabnis (28 off 25), Harleen Deol (15 off 10) and Deepti Sharma (11* off 8) chipped in with valuable contributions as India accrued 435-5 from 50 overs to record their highest-ever total in women’s ODIs, and the fourth highest by any team in the history of the format.

IND-W vs IRE-W Highlights: Prendergast, Forbes Lay Out Confident Start To Irish Response

Chasing 436, Ireland lost captain Gaby Lewis for just a single and number three Christina Coulter Reilly for a duck to Titas Sadhu and Sayali Satghare respectively, both within the first overs of the innings. However, Sarah Forbes counterattacked the Indians with a belligerent 64-run partnership with number four batter Orla Prendergast.

Steering Ireland to 88-2 in 15 overs to maintain a healthy run rate of nearly six-an-over, Prendergast was eventually knocked over by Tanuja Kanwar after crafting 36 from 43 balls.

IND-W vs IRE-W Highlights: Deepti Sharma Cleans Up Irish Tail To Secure Big Indian Win

Indian spinners Tanuja Kanwar (2-31) and Deepti Sharma (3-27) scythed through the rest of the Irish batters by claiming five wickets between them.

Sharma, in particular, cleaned up Ireland’s tail as the visitors crashed from 88-2 to 131 all out in 31.2 overs. Team India secured a huge 304-run victory to secure the three-match series by a 3-0 margin.
