On Sunday, October 5, India women locked horns against Pakistan women in match six of the ongoing Women's World Cup at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Eyes were on the toss because of the anticipated handshake saga and as expected both captains ignored each other and Harmanpreet Kaur happily followed Suryakumar Yadav's footsteps.
At the coin flip, Pakistan women won the toss and opted to field first, inviting the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side to bat first. The Women in Blue have got off to a flying start as at the time of writing India are 45/0 after 8 overs.
Massive Blunder at toss vs Pakistan
In the latest events, the toss from the ongoing India-Pakistan match has resurfaced on the social media and the netizens are shocked to point out a massive umpiring blunder at the toss, which went unnoticed by all including the India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
Notably, Pakistan women captain Fatima Sana had called for 'Tails' but Mel Jones and the match referee heard it as heads. Eventually, the coin faced towards head and the referee awarded the toss to Fatima Sana. Eventually, the Women in Green's captain decided to field first.
The fans were stunned to see a mistake of such order in the biggest tournament as they accused the officials of robbing India of a toss win.
Toss Blunder Can Help Pakistan In Colombo
Before the start of the match, rain threat loomed over the stadium and still there are prediction of rain that might halt the game midway. Now the toss blunder can help Pakistan big way because if rain halts the match later on, then the Women in Green will have a better idea of the chase.
Ideally, in rain-threat games, it is always better to bowl first and the teams who have done that have benefitted from it. At the time of writing, India are 54/1 after 11 overs.
