The Irani Cup final day turned into a battlefield as the Vidarbha vs the Rest of India clash witnessed an ugly turn of events with Yash Dhull and Yash Thakur nearly coming to blows. The unfortunate fight occurred when Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur, dismissed a well-set Dhull at the crucial juncture of the game.

Irani up Day 5 turns ugly as players almost collide

The incident happened on the first ball of the 63rd over as Thakur bowled a short-length ball as Yash Dhull failed to get his timing right on the upper-cut, and the ball landed in the hands of Atharva Taide. This resulted in an aggressive celebration from the bowler, and rightly so, as Dhull was going strong at 92 and was taking the game away from the opponent.

Dhull didn’t like Thakur’s gesture as he charged towards him, and the Vidarbha pacer also got animated as the duo almost collided as the on-field officials had to separate the two players before things got cool down. Yash Thakur’s teammate took him away as the bowler was observed complaining to the umpires about Dhull.

Dhull's brilliance in vain as Vidarbha beats ROI

ROI needed 361 runs to seal the win and win the tournament, but the Vidarbha bowlers had some other plans as they dismantled the Rest of India batters in the second innings. No one stood tall as wickets started to tumble at regular intervals, and it was only Dhull who provided a bit of resistance with his brilliant knock of 92.

The batter was the lone warrior for the ROI side, but as the right-handed star was dismissed, victory was imminent for the Vidarbha side, as they crushed the opposition by 93 runs by bundling them out for 267 runs in the second innings.
