Promising Indian batter Shubman Gill had a poor outing with the bat, as he was dismissed cheaply on day 2 of the ongoing second Test against New Zealand at MCA Stadium in Pune. Coming at number three, Gill managed only 30 runs before New Zealand's premier all-rounder Mitchell Santner bamboozled him with a ripper.

The incident occurred during the 22nd over of India's first innings when Gill was trying to steady the ship for the hosts following the early dismissal of Rohit Sharma. The talented batting duo had an outstanding start to the day, dominating the New Zealand bowlers with their scintillating stroke-play. However, left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner came to the visitors' rescue, dismissing Gill with a lethal arm ball.

After Jaiswal took a single off the second ball, Santner came around the wicket for Shubman Gill. The tall left-arm spinner surprised the Punjab batter with an arm ball, that came back into Gill after pitching.

As the stylish right-handed batter tried to play a defensive shot, the ball struck him on his front pad. As soon as the New Zealand players appealed for an LBW, the umpire instantly raised his finger without hesitation.

India In A Spot Of Bother In Pune Test

After dismissing Gill with an arm ball, Santner came back to haunt India with Virat Kohli's wicket, castling the legendary batter with a straight one. After Kohli's departure, swashbuckling keeper-batter Rishabh Pant joined Jaiswal in the middle. At the time of writing, India were reeling at 65 for three, with Jaiswal and Pant batting on 27* and 7*, respectively.
