Mitchell Santner is set to lead the New Zealand cricket team in their upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka next month. On October 22, a couple of weeks prior to the tour's launch, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) unveiled New Zealand’s combined 15-player travelling group for the ODI and T20I series.

The New Zealand team is set to play a series of two T20Is and three ODI matches in Sri Lanka between November 9 and November 19 in Dambulla and Pallekele.

NZC announce squad, two players in line for debuts

Wellington Firebirds all-rounder Nathan Smith and Canterbury wicketkeeper-batter Mitch Hay have earned their maiden international call-ups from NZC for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Both uncapped cricketers will likely be making their international debuts at some point during New Zealand’s 10-day trip to the island nation.

Spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner is set to lead New Zealand in both, the T20I as well as in the ODI series. New Zealand’s 15-player squad also features senior paceman Lockie Ferguson, Ish Sodhi, Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips.

Back in September, a Tim Southee-led New Zealand team played a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium. While the ‘Black Caps’ started the series with a positive first-innings lead, they ended up losing the two-match rubber by a 0-2 margin.

Regardless, New Zealand’s upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka will be played between November 9 and November 19. The Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium will host both T20Is and the first ODI before the action shifts to the Pallekele International Stadium for the final two games of the tour.
