Rain has played spoilsport on Day 1 of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The predictions of rain were there since the last couple of days, and it came true as the play started one hour late today.
Kanpur weather today: Rain abandons Day 1
Since morning, rain is playing a cat and mouse game, and it has frustrated the players as well. With relentless rain and bad light in Kanpur, and the news that people feared arrived soon as play on Day 1 was abandoned with both sides left disappointed.
As per the weather report, there was a 98 percent chance of rain on Day 1, and the predictions were correct. Thunderstorms were predicted throughout the day on Friday, and worse, the weather also looks bad for Saturday.
As per Accuweather, there is a 50% chance of rain on Saturday morning, and during the peak hours (from 11 AM to 3 PM), there is an 80% chance of rain. It can be interpreted that Day 2 will also be accompanied by dark clouds, hampering the contest between the two teams.
Mominul Haque rescues Bangladesh on Day 1
Put into bat, Bangladesh lost early wickets in the form of Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam. At 29/2, the Tigers needed someone to resurrect the innings, and left-handed batter, Mominul raised his hands.
