In a phenomenal achievement, Ravichandran Ashwin has surpassed Anil Kumble to become Asia's second most successful bowler. The talismanic spinner dismissed Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto to scalp 420 wickets in the Asian continent, attaining the remarkable landmark.

Currently, Ravichandran Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker in Tests in Asia and placed only below Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan on the elite list. Legendary Indian spinner Anil Kumble is placed third with 419 wickets, with Rangana Herath and Harbhajan Singh occupying the fourth and fifth position with 354 and 300 scalps, respectively.

After debuting in 2011, Ashwin steadily established himself as India's biggest match-winner with the red cherry, playing a pivotal role in their incredible dominance on home soil. The veteran spinner has been a potent bowling weapon for the Indian team, helping them script numerous memorable wins in the subcontinent. His ability to bamboozle the batters with his variations makes him a valuable asset in Asia, and his stunning performance is nothing but a testament to his potential.

R Ashwin's Phenomenal Performance In Bangladesh Tests

Ashwin, a force to reckon with the ball in Asia, exhibited his class in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. After rescuing India from a precarious position with a sublime hundred, the off-spinner scalped six wickets, equalling the legendary Shane Warne's number of Test fifers and powering the hosts to a thumping victory. His all-round show was a significant reason behind India's clinical outing in the series opener, helping them go one-nil up in the series.
