India dominated Day 2 of the Perth Test against Australia to claim a 218-run lead at the stumps. After bowling out the hosts at 104 at lunch, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul thumped a record 172-run opening partnership to put India in the driver's seat.

Here's how the IND vs AUS Day 2 panned out at Perth:

IND vs AUS Highlights: Bumrah claims fifer as India takes crucial lead

From 67/7, Australia had nothing much left to salvage. Jasprit Bumrah once again struck early to dismiss Alex Carry and claim a 5-wicket-haul. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood produced a decent resistance to add 25 runs for the final wicket. As the sun reached its peak, bowlers struggled to trouble the hosts.

Regardless, India had their breakthrough in the 52nd over as Harshit Rana bowled a slower delivery to deceive Starc. He miscued a slog sweep, and a thick edge went straight to wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. With that, Bumrah led India back to the dressing room with a comfortable 46-run lead.

IND vs AUS Highlights: Jaiswal-Rahul posts record opening partnership

The much awaited India-Australia rivalry turned into a one-sided contest as Indian openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal post a 100-run mega partnership. After weathering the initial spell with the new ball, Jaiswal and Rahul batted with incredible fluency and determination, breaking long-standing records to script a new benchmark for Indian openers. Both batters scored a half century each to surpass the 150-run opening partnership mark.

Australia went wicketless throughout the Day 2's gameplay. At stumps, India had 172/0 on board with a 218-run mega lead. While Jaiswal is batting 90* off 193 balls, Rahul also accumulated 62* off 153 balls. Needless to say, India remains in the driver's seat, especially with Australia having to bat in the final inning.
