Punjab Kings (PBKS) are gearing up for a transformative season ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. With hours left for the big event, PBKS owner Preity Zinta landed in Jeddah, and interestingly, she invited recommendations for their potential auction strategy, thus hinting at confusion and unreadiness.

PBKS will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction as the most powerful franchise in terms of financial volume. The team has a remaining purse of INR 110.5 crores with as many as 23 maximum slots to fill. They retained only two uncapped players, namely Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, at the retention deadline.

Preity Zinta all set for IPL 2025 mega auction

The IPL 2025 mega auction will be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia. PBKS owner Preity Zinta took to social media to confirm that she's reached the venue and urged fans to stay tuned for more announcements. However, she invited fans to drop in their recommendations about whom they should pick at the auction table.

Historically, PBKS has struggled with its auction strategies. Despite ample resources, the think tank failed to utilise them to form a match-winning roster.

Overspending on foreign stars without retaining core domestic talent, lack of continuity in leadership and frequent squad overhauls, and, missing opportunities to retain key performers due to poor auction planning are some of their biggest drawbacks.

This is, however, expected to be a better IPL 2025 mega auction, with the inclusion of the Australian legend Ricky Ponting in the coaching setup as PBKS looks to end an 18-season trophy-less run.

PBKS in a fix over Arshdeep Singh

PBKS retained only Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh for the IPL 2025 mega auction and made waves by releasing proven T20 specialist bowler Arshdeep Singh. While PBKS has 4 RTM cards to use, a reunion with Arshdeep seems unlikely. The pacer unfollowed Punjab on Instagram, hinting at soured relations. Hence, PBKS cannot buy back Arshdeep if the latter does not even want to be a part of the setup any longer.
