IND vs AFG | Rohit Sharma Equals MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli In Unwanted 'Run Out' Record

Rohit Sharma's return to 20-overs format did not pan out well for the maverick Indian captain, who in the first T20I against Afghanistan, equaled an unwanted equal record for India, drawing level with former captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

Sharma, who got run out for his eleventh duck in T20Is, got dismissed for the sixth time in his 149-match career, a record that Dhoni and Kohli jointly (six each) hold. 2007 T20 World Cup-winning captain Dhoni has six run-outs from 85 innings (98 matches), while Kohli, who is missing the Mohali T20I has been run-out six times in 107 innings (115 matches).

Sharma got run out in India's first itself during their 160-run chase. Sharma slammed a powerful drive, which Afghanistan skipper Ibrahim Zadran positioned at mid-off managed to stop and throw it back towards the wicketkeeper, who knocked over the bails as the Indian captain stood stranded at the non-striker's end as partner Shubman Gill got busy ball-watching.

In the field, Sharma displayed great athleticism, where he could have got hold of a brilliant catch that just eluded the hands of the former Mumbai Indians skipper standing at short cover.

Interestingly, India's current head coach Rahul Dravid holds the record for most run-outs (53) in international cricket in all formats combined.

India riding on back a solid 40-ball unbeaten 60 from all-rounder Shivam Dube, ended up clinching the T20I by six-wickets, chasing down their target in the 17th over.
