Pakistan Under-19 floored their Indian counterparts by a fair margin in match number three of the 2024 Under-19 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on November 30. Shahzaib Khan played starring role with the bat at the top of the order before the ‘Boys in Green’ collectively strangulated the Indian batting line-up.

Shahzaib Khan marched on and belted an unmitigated 159 from just 147 balls to top-score in the innings. Smearing five boundaries and 10 sixes in the process, Khan’s prolific day out blazed Pakistan to a competitive 281-7 by the competition of their 50 overs.
For India, new ball seamer Samarth Nagaraj (3-45) picked up three wickets, all during the final 10 overs of the innings while Yudhajit Guha (1-46) and Kiran Chormale (1-46) also chipped in with a wicket each.

In pursuit of 282, India Under-19 lost both openers, Ayush Mhatre (20 off 14) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (1 off 9) within the first five overs of the run-chase to Abdul Salam and Ali Raza respectively.
Number three batter C Andre Siddarth (15 off 27) and captain Mohamed Amaan (16 off 43) also failed to convert their starts as they were both toppled by Faham-ul-Haq and Usman Khan (1-21) respectively, prompting the ‘Boys in Blue’ to crash to 81-4 in 20.5 overs.

Nikhil Kumar at number five unleashed 67 fighting runs from 77 balls, and formed cunning partnerships with Kiran Chormale (20 off 30) and Harvansh Pangalia (26 off 28) to take India Under-19 past the 150-run mark.
However, constant wickets in the middle overs kept pushing India down in their pursuit, with Pakistan’s Ali Raza chipping in with three key wickets to bag figures of 3-36. Abdul Subhan (2-46), Naveed Ahmed Khan (1-56) and Faham-ul-Haq (2-41) also collectively claimed five wickets between them before a 48-run tenth wicket stand between Indian tailenders Mohamed Enaan (30 off 22) and Yudhajit Guha (13 off 22) frustrated the Pakistanis towards the end.
Regardless, a runout of Enaan enveloped the entire Indian innings for 238 to hand Pakistan Under-19 an emphatic 43-run victory to register their opening points at the 2024 Under-19 Asia Cup in the UAE.
