After an initial couple of convincing wins, David Warner-led Dubai Capitals have fallen off the bandwagon. In the previous fixture versus Sharjah Warriors, the Capitals witnessed a massive batting order collapse as the team was bundled for 104 runs in the first innings.

As the Warriors chased down the lowly total under 14 overs, Dubai Capitals' net run rate took a huge hit. Having said that, inconsistency has been the Capitals' biggest weakness this season. 

The likes of David Warner, Sikandar Raza, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Sam Billings have had their moments of highs. But barring one-off big innings, the top order has failed to show consistency. 

On the flip side, Sikandar Raza has been the Capitals' biggest positive of the season. His impact from both ends of the ball has kept Dubai in the hunt this tournament. However, Raza alone cannot do the job. The bowling department needs to come together to ensure a deep run this ILT20 season.

Desert Vipers

Desert Vipers snatched a thrilling victory over MI Emirates last evening. In a chase of 150 runs, the Vipers' top order collapsed like a pack of cards. However, Rutherford's quick 35 runs off 22 deliveries kept the Vipers alive. 

With 10 needed off the final over, Shaheen Afridi and Luke Wood took charge. The duo took singles and doubles off every delivery, and with three needed off the final delivery, Afridi knocked a fuller delivery to the square third-man area. 

The fielder had a lot of ground to cover, which allowed Afridi and Wood to run for three and seal a much-needed win for their side. 

However, the job is not done. Desert Vipers are still at the bottom two in the points table, with a mere four points added to the tally. They must win against Dubai Capitals to stay alive in the playoff hunt.
