After two disappointing months in Australia and New Zealand, Shaheen Afridi finally found something to grin at as the Pakistan speedster unveiled his batting prowess once again and won Desert Vipers a thrilling final-over tussle in the International League T20 (ILT20) in Dubai.

With 3 runs required off the final delivery, Shaheen Afridi somehow managed to miscue an attempted big shot in the vacant deep-third region and sprinted the fastest to complete the win for his side against the MI Emirates.

Walking in at No.9 when the Vipers desperately required someone from the lower-order to become their hero for the night, Shaheen delivered a priceless knock of 17 not out off just 12 deliveries and propelled his team past the Emirates franchise's 149/9 made in the first half.

Shaheen's Blitz Win Vipers A Thriller Over MI

Even as Trent Boult nearly executed his yorker, Shaheen got underneath the ball and tried his own version of India legend MS Dhoni's trademark helicopter shot, which luckily went to the vacant deep-third region. By the time the deep point fielder came around the ball, Shaheen reached the other end with a three and won it for the Vipers.

Shaheen initially hesitated upon completing the two as he didn't know that his partner Luke Wood had also reached the batting end. With the ball in the wicketkeeper's hands, Shaheen then ran in with steam towards the other end and dived full-stretched to complete the run while Nicholas Pooran tried his best to inflict a dismissal with a throw.

Shaheen made amends for a poor outing with the ball in the first half where on a dry pitch, his figures of 0/39 off 4 overs proved costly for the Vipers and allowed the MI franchise to reach near the 150-mark. Thankfully for them, the left-arm quick could showcase his magic with the bat.
