Mohammad Nabi tried to make a big impact, but he got run out in the ongoing Champions Trophy match between Australia and Afghanistan at the Gaddafi Stadium on February 28.  Nabi, who replaced the departing Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, was dismissed after scoring just 1 run off 1 ball.

The incident happened during the 37th over of Afghanistan's innings. On the fourth ball, Spencer Johnson bowled short and down the leg side, which Nabi let go behind him. Josh Inglis leapt to grab the ball with his left hand but couldn’t quite hold on, and it went behind him. Nabi tried to steal a quick bye, but his teammate Omarzai saw Inglis get to the ball quickly and told Nabi to return to his crease.

Inglis missed a direct throw at the stumps, but Spencer Johnson collected the ball and threw it underarm to hit the stumps. Nabi was short of his ground, and the third umpire confirmed the run-out. It was a needless attempt by Nabi to take a run, which led to his dismissal and Afghanistan lost their sixth wicket.

Afghanistan Need To Win Against Australia

This match is crucial for Afghanistan's chances to qualify for the semi-finals. If they fail to perform, it will be a huge disappointment, especially since this is their debut in the tournament. At the time of writing, Afghanistan are at 195 for 6 after 39 overs, with Azmatullah Omarzai and Gulbadin Naib at the crease.
