The incident took place in the 38th over when Nathan Ellis delivered a good-length ball outside the off-stump to Azmatullah Omarzai.
The Afghan batter attempted a tentative shot but was beaten. Wicketkeeper Josh Inglis was convinced there was an edge and urged for a review. Smith, trusting his keeper, quickly signaled for DRS.

Talking about the match, Afghanistan won the match and opted to bat first and this decision did not went well as Spencer Johnson took the crucial wicket of opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz. However, Sediqullah Atal's knock stabilised Afghanistan's innings as he made 85 runs of 95 balls. At the time of writing, Afghanistan were at 223/7 after 44 overs, with Omarzai and Gulbadin Naib at the crease.
