GT beat RR in IPL 2025 [Source: @IPL/X.com]
In a dominant show, GT beat RR by 58 runs to fetch their 4th win of the season. Batting first, Sai Sudharsan’s fireworks pushed GT to a par total of 217 runs. In the second inning, RR kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Lack of partnerships cost them big as they got bowled out for 159 runs.
Here’s how GT vs RR panned out in Ahmedabad:
Sai Sudharsan’s Sublime Form Gets GT Going
Gujarat Titans batted first but Jofra Archer produced a peach delivery with the new ball to clean up Shubman Gill. Clocking in at 147.7 kph, Archer bowled a full delivery just outside off-stump that swung in late. Gill, trying to push forward, was a touch late on the shot. The ball sneaked past his bat and crashed into the off-stump, leaving both the batter and the crowd stunned.

However, regardless of the early wicket, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler knitted a 80-run partnership. Sudharsan extended his sublime form to hit another half century, hitting 82 off 53 balls. Buttler also contributed with 36 off 25 balls as GT got 150 runs in 15 overs.
GT Post 217-Run Total After Late Finish
Once Buttler and Sudharsan departed, Shahrukh Khan slammed a much-needed finishing knock of 36 off 20 balls. Rahul Tewatia also showed a lot of promise with 24 off 12 balls. Owing to this duo’s late finish, GT managed to post 217 runs on the board at the end of the first 20 overs. Meanwhile, for RR, Tushar Deshpande bowled an expensive spell of 2/53 whereas Maheesh Theekshana also conceded 54 runs in his 4 overs.

Siraj, Arshad Unsettle RR’s Top Order
With a steep total to chase, Rajasthan Royals’ top order was jolted by Mohammed Siraj and Arshad Khan. Arshad bowled a full delivery swinging away outside off stump, one that might've even been called a wide had Yashasvi Jaiswal let it go. But he, looking to square drive, reached out and sliced it straight into the safe hands of Rashid Khan at deep backward point.

From the other end, Siraj also chipped in with the wicket of Nitish Rana. Siraj bowled a shortish delivery angled across, and Rana fell right into the trap. He looked to upper cut it over the infield, but the placement was too perfect for the fielding side. Positioned at third man, Khejroliya barely had to move as the ball came straight to him. With that, RR were reduced to 12/2 in 2.2 overs.
Rajasthan Bundled For 159 As GT Extend Winning Streak
After early blows, RR skipper Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag produced a fighting partnership of 48 runs. Parag was going strong on 26 off 14 balls but was sent back by Khejroliya in a controversial dismissal.
He nicked a ball to Jos Buttler but was visibly puzzled after the third umpire deemed him out. Riyan suggested the ultra-edge spike could’ve come from his boot brushing the pitch, but the decision stood. After Parag, RR lost another key wicket in Samson who walked back on 41 off 28 balls, leaving Royals reeling at 116/5.

Shimron Hetmyer tried hard to keep the chase alive with 52 off 32 balls. However, with lack of support from the other end, the required run rate went out of Royals’ control. Eventually, RR got bowled out for 159 runs as Titans sealed a comfortable 58-run victory. Prasidh Krishna starred with the ball, picking up 3 wickets.
