Riyan Parag is a fiery character and is never afraid to express his emotions on the field. His anger gets shown on his face and one such incident happened during the clash between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. Parag's wicket created a bit of controversy and the RR batter wasn't happy about it.
Why Riyan Parag got angry at the umpire?
The incident unfolded when Parag was going hammer and tongs against the GT bowlers in a tricky 218-run chase. However, batting at 26 off 14, Parag had a moment to forget which created controversy in the match.
Kulwant Khejroliya bowled a fuller length ball outside the off as Riyan Parag chased for it and got a faint outside-edge as Jos Buttler, the GT keeper held onto the catch. The decision was sent to the third umpire for a clean catch and the replays suggested that Buttler had the caught the ball cleanly. However, this was not the controversy.
Parag felt that his bat hit the ground the same time ball was close to the bat and hence there was a spike indicated. He was visibly angry and had an argument with the umpire as well.
The replays perhaps felt that Parag's bat hit the ball, but the RR batter disagreed, but had to walk back to the pavilion.
RR eyeing massive 218
GT posted a massive 217 runs, courtesy of a sublime 82 from their southpaw, Sai Sudharsan. He was amply supported by Jos Buttler and Shahrukh Khan as the home side posted a formidable score.
In reply, RR lost 4 quick wickets, but skipper Sanju Samson is battling hard alongside Shimron Hetmyer.
