Shubman Gill is back in runs and leading the run-charts for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. On Wednesday, playing against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur, the GT captain is leading from the front in the chase for the one-time champions.
Chasing 197 runs, Gill showcased his class against RR's Avesh Khan with a delightful lofted on-drive for a maximum. The prolific right-handed got the ball in his arc and he held his pose before notching a Sachin Tendulkar-esque pick-up shot for a maximum.
Over his 24-year-old, Tendulkar had played lofted straight and on-drives on countless occassions, famously during his Desert Storm knock in Sharjah in 1998.

Gill held the forte from one end, scoring his second half-century of the season. However, no other batter helped his cause in the chase, as GT is on the verge of toppling against RR in Jaipur on Wednesday.
At the time of writing, the Titans are at 135/8 after 16 overs, needing 59 runs off the last 24 balls to win.
