Many funny moments transpired during the third ODI between India and South Africa in Visakhapatnam, and one of the most widely discussed came when captain KL Rahul seemingly playfully roasted Virat Kohli right in the middle of the action. The light-hearted exchange quickly became the internet’s favorite talking point.

KL Rahul’s playful dismissal of Kohli’s advice becomes online sensation

After being asked to bat first South Africa started solidly, with Quinton de Kock leading the charge with a century, but stumbled later and were struggling in the end overs to push their total towards something competitive. That is when, during one of the late overs with the visitors nine down, the amusing moment unfolded.

In the 45th over, when number eleven batter Ottneil Baartman walked out to bat, fans noticed Kohli appearing to advise Rahul to place two slips for the incoming tailender. In a fan-circulated clip shared across social platforms, Rahul can be seen immediately waving off the suggestion and gesturing for Kohli to go stand in his fielding position.

The stump mic audio that fans associated with the moment included Rahul saying “jaa udhar baith na”, which roughly translates to telling someone to go and sit down (stand in this case), and it immediately sent social media into a frenzy.

Rohit Sharma, visible in the background, was seen smiling and laughing at the exchange, adding even more charm to the already hilarious scene. While some online reactions debated whether Rahul’s gesture bordered on disrespect, most fans viewed it as friendly banter between two teammates who have shared the field for over a decade and know each other’s rhythms inside out.

South Africa eventually folded for 270, and India went on to win the match and the series, but the playful interaction between Rahul and Kohli became one of the standout comedic highlights of India’s bowling innings with memes and edits.
