Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav resorted to some unreal and hilarious desperation antics in terms of making DRS requests to his senior teammates, Rohit Sharma and captain KL Rahul in the series-deciding third ODI against South Africa. At one stage during his tight spell in Vizag, senior man Virat Kohli even jokingly gestured a slap towards the spinner, as the cricketer had nearly wasted a review over a senseless appeal.
Quite reminiscent to the days when Rohit Sharma was Team India’s ODI captain, Kuldeep Yadav’s repeated pleas even made the legendary opening batter chuckle on the field as he politely waved off the spinner’s calls for yet another review.
“I am very bad…”: Kuldeep says he needs KL and Rohit Sharma to keep him in check
Kuldeep Yadav eventually finished his 10-over quota with sensational figures of 4-41, which included the prized scalps of Dewald Brevis, Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch. Soon after claiming his ninth ODI four-wicket haul to wrap up the South African innings for just 270 in an otherwise high-scoring series, Kuldeep admitted that he is “very bad” while making DRS calls, and he needs senior men like KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma to keep him in check on the field.

While speaking during a mid-innings interview with the commentators, Kuldeep Yadav said:
“In DRS, I am very bad - Rohit bhai keeps pulling me - KL bhai is very good behind stumps and you need those people behind the stumps to guide you.”
As it happened, during the 41st over of the South African innings, a Kuldeep Yadav delivery took an inside edge off Keshav Maharaj before the ball hit the batter’s foot as wicketkeeper KL Rahul seemingly took a stunning catch. However, television replays indicated that the ball had rolled into the ground as the entire stadium erupted in laughter over Kuldeep and Rahul’s appeal.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were left equally stunned, as the latter laughed off over the spinner’s repeated pleas.
Kuldeep Yadav made a couple of more requests in his follow-up overs in light of some close calls as the Indian cricketer was eying a rare five-wicket haul. He eventually had to be content with a four-fer, with figures reading 4-41 as India now require 271 to seal a series win.
