Abhishek Sharma's Punjab was once again at the centre stage on day 6 of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, as teams are looking to close out their league campaign on a positive note, while players also eye the mini-auction. The in-form Ayush Mhatre and Anshul Kamboj also made sure that their teams stay in the top-2 of their respective groups with only one match to go ahead of the knockout stage.

Here's how things unravelled on December 6 in India's premier domestic T20 league.

Shardul and Mhatre lead Mumbai closer to the KOs

The star-studded Mumbai line-up took on Chhattisgarh in Lucknow and asked them to bat first. Captain Shardul Thakur took four wickets, dismissing 3 of the top-5 batters to restrict them to 121 runs. He finished with 3/19 (3), alongside Tushar Deshpande's 2/38 (3.4). Suryansh Shedge and Atharva Ankolekar also finished with 2/12 and 2/13, respectively.

In response, Ayush Mhatre once again stepped up for Mumbai with 69*(49) at the top of the order, while Ajinkya Rahane got 40(28). Shubham Agrawal was Chhattisgarh's pick of the bowlers with 2/24 (4), as Mumbai sealed their 5th win.

Abhishek continues to lead Punjab's mayhem in SMAT

While batting first against Services, as usual, Abhishek Sharma led Punjab from the front and scored 62(34), alongside Prabhsimran Singh's 50(28). The duo combined for 15 fours and five sixes at the top, followed by Naman Dhir's 54(22), with 2 fours and six sixes. Abhishek opened the bowling again and dismissed captain Mohit Ahlawat, and went on to finish the match with 2/8 in his two overs. Harpreet Brar also got 2/21 (3), while Sanvir Singh contributed with 2/29 (3) in their 74-run win.

Kamboj shines in Haryana's close win over a star-studded Baroda

Nishant Sindhu's 28(13), Yashvardhan Dalal's 56*(44) took Haryana to a fighting total of 174/7, before Anshul Kamboj's match-winning spell of 4/23 (4) helped them clinch a close game, where the dangerous Atit Sheth got 44(33) and Jitesh Sharma scored 33(19), before both were dismissed by the Chennai Super Kings bowler. Captain Krunal Pandya struggled to score and finished with 5(11), as Saurashtra fell short by 8 runs.

Unadkat's Saurashtra stuns Karnataka in a final-ball thriller

Captain Jaydev Unadkat won the toss and elected to bat first, as Saurashtra scored 177/9 in their 20 overs, courtesy of Siddhant Rana's 42(27) and Vishvarajsinh Jadeja's 40(24). While chasing the target, Devdutt Padikkal scored 66(46) as the lone warrior in the second innings, but 2/29 (4) from Unadkat and 2/37 from Chetan Sakariya led Saurashtra to a win. Ankur Panwar notably defended 14 in the final over and 3 on the final ball. Mayank Agarwal scored 1(2), Karun Nair got 6(8). Vyshak Vijaykumar was their top bowler with 3/28 (4) in the first innings.
