India A displayed an all-around performance to secure a commanding 186-run victory over India D in their Duleep Trophy 2024 fixture. With standout performances from Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, and Pratham Singh, India A cruised to a dominant win, earning all six points from the match.

Here’s the timeline of how IND A vs IND D panned out in Anantapur:

Duleep Trophy 2024 Highlights: Kumar Kushagra and Shams Mulani Steady IND'A Ship

After winning the toss, India D captain Shreyas Iyer elected to bowl first on a green-tinged surface that promised assistance for the bowlers. However, India A’s own start with the bat was less than ideal, as they collapsed to 93/5 in the first session of Day 1, teetering on the brink of disaster.

Some respite came in the form of a fighting partnership between Kumar Kushagra and Shams Mulani. Their sixth-wicket stand of 51 runs offered a glimpse of hope, with Mulani emerging as the backbone of the innings.

Mulani’s patience paid off as he partnered with Tanush Kotian for a crucial 91-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Mulani was a rock at the crease, falling just short of a well-deserved century with 89 runs off 187 balls.

The lower order contributed vital runs, allowing India A to post a respectable total of 290. Harshit Rana was the pick of the India D bowlers, grabbing 4/51, but their inability to finish off the tail would come back to haunt them.

Duleep Trophy 2024 Highlights: Devdutt Padikkal Shines But India D Stumble

India D's response with the bat mirrored India A’s early struggles. Captain Shreyas Iyer’s woes continued as he departed for a duck, leaving his team floundering at 96/5. While the team seemed to be in dire straits, Devdutt Padikkal fought valiantly, scoring an impressive 92.

Despite Padikkal’s resistance, India D was eventually bowled out for 183, conceding a hefty first-innings lead of 107 runs. Khaleel Ahmed (3/39) and Aaqib Khan (3/41) were the chief wreckers for India A, ensuring that India D could not build any meaningful partnerships.

Duleep Trophy 2024 Highlights: Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma Dominate in India A’s Second Innings

With a substantial lead in hand, India A took the bull by the horns in their second innings, showcasing a batting masterclass. Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma notched centuries, with Singh scoring 122 and Varma remaining unbeaten on 111.

The duo, along with a series of hundred-run partnerships, propelled India A to a massive total, giving India D a daunting target of 488 runs to chase.

Duleep Trophy 2024 Highlights: Ricky Bhui’s Heroics Not Enough as India D Crumble

Chasing a mammoth 488, India D needed miracles. Ricky Bhui, promoted up the order to No. 3, showed grit, battling the spinning conditions to score a commendable 113. His performance gave India D a glimmer of hope, but it was ultimately a case of "too little, too late."

Small contributions from Shreyas Iyer (41), Sanju Samson (40), and Yash Dubey (37) weren’t enough to mount a serious challenge.

India D was bowled out for 301 in the second session of Day 4, falling short by 186 runs. Tanush Kotian, with his spin, claimed 4/73, while Shams Mulani added three wickets to his tally, capping off a sensational all-round performance.
