On Sunday, September 15, Shreyas Iyer-led India D side suffered their second straight defeat in Duleep Trophy 2024 as India A beat them by 186 runs. With the defeat, India D now sits in the last position, while India A are third with one win in two matches.

Talking about the recently concluded match, India A dominated all sessions as they, batting first, scored 290 runs on the board, while they reduced the Shreyas Iyer-led side to just 183 runs. 

India A Dominate All Sessions

In the 2nd innings, the Mayank Agarwal-led side went all guns blazing as Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma's centuries helped India A put 380 runs on the board and were forced to declare their innings. Chasing a mammoth total of 488 runs, captain Shreyas Iyer looked promising, but threw his wicket away after a 41-run knock. Eventually, India D put 301 runs on the scorecard but fell short of 186 runs.

Tanush Kotian was the star with the ball as he took a four-wicket haul. Shams Mulani was also impressive with the ball as he claimed a three-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Riyan Parag put the final nail in the coffin and took the last wicket to seal the win for India A.

On the 2nd ball of his first over of the innings, Parag tossed the ball up in the air, whole Vidhwath Kaverappa was tricked by the line and gave a simple catch to short-leg to end the proceedings for the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024.

Shams Mulani won the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance. Mulani scored 89 runs with the bat in the first innings and took four wickets in the match.
