On a day when Nepal shattered almost every known T20I record against Mongolia in the ongoing Asian Games Men's T20I 2023, Dipendra Singh Airee achieved the unthinkable. Airee came out to bat in the final few overs, annihilated the opponents, and ended up scoring the fastest-ever T20I half-century, taking just nine balls.

His innings was studded with eight sixes, with six of them coming in an over, much like the earlier record-holder. The Nepal batter also became the first batter to hit consecutive sixes on his first six deliveries.

Yuvraj achieved the feat in 12 balls against England in Durban, while Airee's record has come in Hangzhou against T20I debutants Mongolia.

Austria's Miraz Ashan, New Zealand's Colin Munro and Romania's Ramesh Satheesan come below Singh, scoring fifties in 13, 14, and 14 balls, respectively.

Interestingly, in the same match, Kushal Malla and Rohit Paudel slammed 19-ball half-centuries, respectively, the fastest for Nepal before Airee demolished that feat.

Several other records were also broken, such as Malla slamming the fastest-ever T20I hundred (34 balls), most sixes hit in a T20I innings (26), and the team scoring 300+ runs for the first time in T20Is ( 314 for 3).

As of writing, Mongolia find themselves in a deep ditch, having lost three wickets for just 19 runs and still 296 to get.
