Dhruv Jurel to captain Central Zone (AP Photos)
Dhruv Jurel, the Indian wicketkeeper, has been appointed as the captain of the Central Zone for the Duleep Trophy 2025. The UP lad has been a regular member of the Indian Test side, and has now been rewarded for his consistent performance in international and domestic cricket.
Along with Dhruv Jurel, plenty of high-profile Indian players have been included in the Central Zone squad. Rajat Patidar is fit and ready after a long injury layoff, while the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, and Deepak Chahar have also made the cut.
Domestic Performers Rewarded In The Central Zone Squad For Duleep Trophy
Impressive performers from the last Ranji season like Yash Rathod, Harsh Dubey and Manav Suthar have also been drafted in, and overall, Central Zone looks like a solid unit on paper. Karun Nair, though, has missed out due to a finger injury he suffered in the Oval Test.
It is a 15-member squad while six stand-bys have also been named who can come in as a replacement in case of any injury or withdrawl of any player. The stand-bys include players like Yash Thakur and Kuldeep Sen, who have been consistent performers in domestic cricket for quite a few years now.
Earlier, Shubman Gill was appointed as the captain of the North Zone, while Shardul Thakur will lead the star-studded West Zone line-up. The out-of-favour Indian wicketkepeer batter, Ishan Kishan, has been named as the captain of the East Zone, while the announcement of the North East Zone squad is still awaited.
