Indian wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel might finally get his chance in this fifth Test between England and India, to be played at the Oval in London. All this, after the regular wicketkeeper and India’s vice-captain, Rishabh Pant, broke his foot during the fourth Test in Manchester.

Jurel Shares His Hilarious Take On Wicketkeeping Duty

Right-handed wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who has impressed everyone with his keeping and batting in the past, is finally set to feature in his first Test in England on this tour. After taking the keeping responsibilities in the last two Tests following the injury to regular keeper Rishabh Pant, Jurel is ready to embrace the bigger challenge that lies ahead of him.

Speaking exclusively to BCCI.TV, Jurel shared a hilarious anecdote from the "M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story" movie, where the former Indian legendary spinner, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, was asked by his coach to only do the keeping drills instead of batting during the practice sessions, which is that Jurel compared himself to him after only doing the keeping in the last two games. He said:

"In MS Dhoni sir's movie, there's a scene where his coach said, 'You cannot do batting, you only have to do wicket-keeping.'"

However, he took all that quite positively and reckoned that it doesn't matter to him if he has to do one thing or too many, as he believes in putting the team first and is ready to do anything for the team if he can help them win from any situation and whenever the opportunity arises.

"A team man is one who does that one thing - whether you are playing or not - which helps the team win. We try, whenever that opportunity comes, we do that one thing which helps the team win," he added.

The 24-year-old Jurel made his Test debut against the English side at Rajkot last year, where, since then, he has featured in four Test matches so far and has scored 202 runs at an average of 40.40 with a half-century to his name.

Jurel Puts Playing Overseas As A Magnificent Milestone

Further speaking, the right-handed wicketkeeper was quite ecstatic about getting the opportunity to play on an overseas tour, specifically in England, where he believes that performing overseas would only build his rapport, as getting past the bigger challenges would only help him succeed in his career.

He further mentioned that only if someone performs overseas, the value would only increase, as everyone will start rating you highly after performing in an overseas Test match. He concluded:

"To overcome challenges when you go overseas is always a special thing. If you perform overseas, people will rate you high so I am very excited, just want to go out and express myself. I am very excited to play because this match is very crucial for all of us."

The Indian team will be up against England in the fifth Test at Kia Oval, beginning 31st of July from 3:30 PM IST, in a bid to level the series after being 2-1 down so far.
