Promising batter Dewald Brevis had another forgettable outing as he was dismissed for a single run in the second One-Day International between Australia and South Africa. Coming at number six, Brevis could manage a solitary run in five deliveries before Nathan Ellis got his prized scalp.

Brevis Disappoints SA With 2nd Successive Cheap Score

Dewald Brevis' maiden ODI appearance concluded in the most disappointing manner, with Travis Head dismissing him for six runs. As the batter entered the middle today, the stage was perfectly set for him to take a bit of time and ensure a fitting finish for the home team.

However, the swashbuckling right-hander recorded another failure, with Nathan Ellis dismissing him cheaply at a crucial juncture of the match. It was a short ball from Ellis as Brevis tried to smash it out of the park.

The batter couldn't time the ball properly, as his miscued lofted shot went straight to the deep mid-wicket where Cameron Green took a simple catch. Thus, Brevis, who was expected to play a crucial role for South Africa in the second ODI, made his way back to the dugout inside five deliveries.

Brevis Fails To Replicate T20I Success In ODIs

Dewald Brevis has been on a rise since joining Chennai Super Kings as a replacement player. He had a phenomenal time with the bat in the T20I series against Australia, slamming the most runs among players from both sides.

However, the stylish batter has certainly failed to live up to the expectations in the ODIs so far. Despite South Africa giving him a consistent rope, Brevis has managed only seven runs in two matches and would like to turn things around in the decider.

Regarding the game, South Africa were 201 for five in 35.5 overs, with Tristan Stubbs and Wiaan Mulder batting on 57* and 5*, respectively.
