Indian fast bowler Shardul Thakur destroyed Delhi Capitals’ top order, picking up two wickets in his first over. Fans on social media hailed his redemption as Thakur initially went unsold in the mega auction before LSG roped him in as an injury replacement.

Thakur, who has been out of the national team for a while, was ignored by IPL franchises during the 2025 mega auction. He went unsold in multiple rounds and was poised to remain on the sidelines.

However, fortune favoured the brave as Mohsin Khan’s injury paved the way for Shardul. LSG roped him in as an injury replacement for the 2025 IPL season.

Shardul Thakur Wins Heart With Lethal Spell Vs DC

In his first match for LSG in the IPL 2025 season, Shardul Thakur unravelled his magic. His team had to defend 210 runs and the pacer delivered two big blows in his first over.

DC’s explosive opener, Jake Fraser-McGurk fell victim to LSG’s well-planned field, slicing an outswinger bowled by Thakur to long-off where Ayush Badoni completed a simple catch. 

The next batter in, Abhishek Porel attempted an ambitious lofted shot against Shardul but mistimed it straight to Nicholas Pooran and departed for a two-ball duck.

With those two blows, DC were reduced to 2/2 as Shardul Thakur enjoyed his redemption. Moreover, he also won fans’ hearts as they praised him on social media.
