Delhi Capitals’ young Aussie batter, Jake Fraser-McGurk, had a tough outing in their IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on March 24. His struggle with form continued as he got out for just 1 run off 2 balls.

Shardul Thakur Strikes In First Over

It all happened in the very first over of Delhi Capitals’ innings when LSG’s Shardul Thakur, bowling with the new ball, struck early. On the third ball of the over, Fraser-McGurk went for a big shot but ended up slicing it high in the air.

He didn’t move his feet much and just swung hard at a delivery that was slightly full and moving away. The ball went straight to Ayush Badoni at long-off, who safely took the catch. That was the end of Fraser-McGurk, and LSG got their first breakthrough.

Shardul, who was brought into the LSG squad as a replacement for Mohsin Khan, proved to be a great pick. He didn’t stop there; later in the same over, he also dismissed Abhishek Porel, putting Delhi in deep trouble.

As if things weren’t bad enough for DC, M Siddharth later removed Sameer Rizvi cheaply, making the chase even more challenging.

Earlier, LSG had put up a solid total of 210 runs, thanks to brilliant performances from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran. Axar Patel’s Delhi Capitals had a mountain to climb, but with early wickets falling, the pressure was on them right from the start.
