Barbados Royals overcame Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in a rain-marred outing at the Kensington Oval to maintain an unbeaten run in the ongoing CPL 2024 season.

Here’s the timeline of how BR vs ABF panned out in Barbados:

BR vs ABF Highlights: Greaves, Brandon King Set Up Fiery Start For Falcons

Opening batters Justin Greaves and Brandon King compounded a fiery start for the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons by sharing 55 runs in the first six overs. Both cricketers listed 27* from 18 deliveries each during the period and collectively launched nine boundaries and a six in the process.

Their partnership was eventually halted by CPL debutant Keshav Maharaj off the very first delivery of the latter’s opening spell mere moments after the opening powerplay.

BR vs ABF Highlights: 50s From Justin Greaves, Sam Billings Take ABF To 176

Following the dismissal of Brandon King, his opening partner Justin Greaves deprived Barbados Royals off another wicket for the next 11 overs by sharing a 92-run partnership with number three batter Sam Billings. Both Greaves (61* off 52) and Billings (56 off 43) carted sparkling half-centuries to take Falcons to the brink of the 150-run mark.

Jason Holder delivered the timely breakthrough for the Royals by cleaning up Billings in the 18th over of the innings. Holder also dismissed Fabian Allen later in the same over before Naveen-ul-Haq struck twice in succession as the Falcons lost four wickets in the space of just 10 deliveries. Constant death-over wickets, however, made little difference to Falcons’ cause as they still hauled a competitive 176-5 at the end of their 20 overs.

BR vs ABF Highlights: Quinton De Kock Steadies Royals Chase After Cornwall Duck

Chasing 177 for a win, Barbados Royals lost opening batter Rahkeem Cornwall for a sluggish seven-ball duck to Antigua & Barbuda Falcons captain Chris Green. Cornwall’s opening partner Quinton de Kock negated the early setback by guiding his team past the strategic timeout without further casualty.

The dashing wicketkeeper-batter shared 72 fighting runs with Alick Athanaze (34 off 29) from less than nine overs to set up an exciting chase for the Royals. A couple of overs after their mid-pitch collision brought an end to their partnership, Quinton de Kock (48 off 30) himself gloved one behind to Sam Billings as the Royals slipped to 93-3 in 11.4 overs.

BR vs ABF Highlights: Rains Interrupts Play, But Royals Find Themselves 10 Ahead

Captain Rovman Powell (15* off 11) and David Miller (19* off 13) added 34 runs together amidst constant rain interruptions to take Barbados Royals to 127-3 in 14.3 overs.

Shortly after players took cover in the 15th over of the innings, umpires called off the proceedings, with the Royals finding themselves 10 runs ahead of the par-total to record their third successive win in the CPL 2024 season.
