[Watch] King Gets Deceived By Keshav Maharaj As He Makes A Dream Debut In CPL 2024
Brandon King was stumped off Keshav Maharaj's bowling in the 13th match of the CPL 2024 [X]
The Barbados Kings and the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are up against each other in the 13th match of the CPL 2024. This match is being played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Both teams are coming into this eyeing their third straight win. With form and momentum working for the teams, they are trying to solidify their claim in the top four.
The Falcons need a win in this match more desperately than the Royals, as they started their campaign in the worst way possible, losing their first four games. On the other hand, the Royals have two wins in two games and are hence placed better in the league at this stage.
Rovman Powell, the skipper of the Barbados Royals, won the toss in the match and put the Falcons into bat. The Falcons would have hoped for a solid start from the openers, Justin Greaves and Brandon King. The duo made a decent start, knocking off 55 runs in the first six overs.
Brandon King is returning after injury
Brandon King, who is returning to cricketing action after his injury in the T20 World Cup 2024, looked rusty. Though he got away a few good shots during his stay in the middle, he failed to find the rhythm going for him. Rovman Powell even dropped him in the third over before he was finally dismissed in the seventh over of the innings by Keshav Maharaj.
Keshav Maharaja had a dream start to his CPL career
Keshav Maharaj, the South African left-arm spinner, is making a debut in CPL with this game. He could not have had a better start to his journey in the tournament, as he picked up a wicket of the first ball that he bowled.
Maharaj tossed up a delivery outside the off stump on the first ball of the seventh over. Seeing the air given to the ball, King danced down the track, looking to hit the ball down the ground. However, the batter was beaten by the turn away from him as the ball went past his outside edge, and Quinton de Kock dislodged the bails with King way out of the crease.
The wicket of King was essential for the Royals at that stage of the game, as the Falcons' opening duo was starting to look dangerous in the middle and could have taken the game away from them.
