For the second time in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a concussion substitute was used in a match as Ashwani Kumar, the left-arm pacer, replaced injured Corbin Bosch during the second innings of the match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans.

Bosch was hit on the head by Prasidh Krishna and the effects were felt by the South African as he didn't came to bowl in the second innings and was replaced by the MI youngster.

What happened to Corbin Bosch

During the MI innings, GT pacer, Prasidh Krishna peppered Bosch with a short-pitched ball and the batter missed it as the ball hit him on the helmet as he was rattled. The physio came out in the middle and Bosch looked a bit shaky.

As a result of this, MI decided to replace Bosch with Ashwani Kumar and the pacer didn't disappoint as he rattled Jos Buttler and dismissed him to get MI back in the contest.

This is the second time a concussion substitute occurred in the league, with Vishnu Vinod being the first one, last season.

GT-MI in a loggerhead

MI were put into bat and the team started on the front-foot with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Will Jacks dominating the proceedings. However, once the duo were dismissed, GT put the breaks on the scoring rate and restricted MI to a paltry 155/8.

In reply, GT lost Sai Sudharsan early, but a partnership between Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler kept their team in the hunt. However, rain threat looms large and MI have their noses in front as GT are 96/2 inside 13.2 overs.
