In the ongoing match between Jharkhand and Odisha in the Round 5 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 at K L Saini Mansarovar Stadium, Ishan Kishan failed to perform with the bat and made mere 8 runs off 13 balls. The left-hander, who has been striving to make a comeback to the Indian national side, failed to live up to expectations.
Ishan Kishan's Early Departure Leaves Jharkhand Reeling
Talking about the match, Jharkhand, after winning the toss and opting to bowl first, had bowled out Odisha for just 162 runs, thanks to a clinical display from their bowlers, led by Anukul Roy and Supriyo Chakraborty, who each picked up three wickets.
Despite the promising start, the pressure was on Jharkhand’s top-order to chase down the modest target. However, the early loss of openers Ishan Kishan and Virat Singh left Jharkhand reeling.
Ishan Kishan's wicket in particular was a setback for his team. Known for his aggressive style and ability to change the course of a game, his failure to provide the much-needed momentum in the early overs was a blow to Jharkhand’s hopes.
Odisha's Batting Collapse Under Pressure
Earlier in the day, Odisha's batting had crumbled under pressure as Jharkhand’s bowlers dominated proceedings. Odisha found themselves bundled out for a paltry 162 runs. Abhishek Raut was the only batter to offer any resistance, as he made 40 runs off 45 balls. The rest of the Odisha lineup could not provide adequate support, as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Anukul Roy, the left-arm spinner, was the standout performer with the ball for Jharkhand, picking up three wickets. Alongside him, Supriyo Chakraborty was equally effective, claiming 3 wickets for 33 runs.
