In a significant development, there are reports that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to be rested for the upcoming ODIs against England starting February 6. According to a report from SportsTak, the BCCI is mulling to rest Virat, Rohit and also Jasprit Bumrah because of workload management.

At present, the Indian stars are in Australia for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, this development has come as a shock for the Indian fans as the upcoming ODIs against England are the final three games before the all-important Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit, Virat Likely To Not Play A Single ODI Before Champions Trophy 2025

Notably, Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy 2025 from February 19, but India will play their games at the Dubai Cricket Stadium. However, the England series will act as a practice ground, and it is crucial for players like Virat and Rohit, who are out of touch with the bat and have not played a single ODI since the Sri Lanka series in July-August 2024.

The report also added that while the BCCI is certain about giving rest to Jasprit Bumrah, a final call on Virat and Rohit will be taken after a discussion with the veterans. It also added that Virat and Rohit are keen on playing the England ODIs as they want to be prepared for the Champions Trophy.
