A big blunder in the gamed costed Strikers a big time (Source: @BBL/X.com)
A sheer blunder occurred in the 17th match of BBL between Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers when Cooper Connolly got a lifeline despite edging the ball early on in the innings. Brendan Doggett was not confident enough to review the delivery, and his team unknowingly paid the hefty price.
In the third over, Doggett unleashed a complex length delivery on the stumps that moved away a fraction after pitching. Connolly looked to defend it however got beaten on the outside edge. Although Doggett made a mild appeal, the umpire turned it down. Hence, no review from the Strikers was taken.
Later on, The UltraEdge revealed that there was indeed a spike on it when the ball had passed the bat. Hence, had the team excluded confidence and sent the decision upstairs, Connolly would have had to walk back to the dugout.
