On New Year's Eve, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre is making his bat talk as the right-hand opener played a brilliant 181-run knock in the ongoing fifth round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

On Tuesday, December 31, Mumbai locked horns against Nagaland at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Mumbai, batting first, went all guns blazing as the defending Ranji Trophy and SMAT champions put 403 runs on the board.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre stole the limelight as the opener scored 181 (117), which featured 15 fours and 11 sixes. Mhatre entered carnage mode as he whacked bowlers all across the park.

It is worth noting that Angrish Raghuvanshi and Ayush Mhatre stitched a 156-run stand for the first wicket that provided the perfect platform for Mumbai. With the iconic knock, not only did Mhatre smash the fifth-highest score by a Mumbai player in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but also shattered Yashasvi Jaiswal's long-standing record.

It is worth noting that Mhatre has become the youngest batter in the world to score 150+ score in List A cricket. He broke Jaiswal's record of against Jharkhand in 2019.
