India women's horrendous tour of Bangladesh turned worse as they were defeated in the first ODI by the hosts, rather comfortably. It was Bangladesh's first ODI win over India women, as they showed great discipline and won the match by 40 runs (DLS Method).

India restrict hosts to 152

In a rain-curtailed match, Bangladesh batters struggled to get some runs on the board, and failed against a quality Indian attack, led by Amanjot Kaur, who bagged 4 for 31 in 9 overs. It was a terrific display of bowling, as the Bangladesh batters found it hard against the medium pacer and barring Nigar Sultana (39) and Fargana Hoque (27), no one really stood firm.

The pitch was slow, as seen in the series so far, and the Indian attack took full advantage of the situation, restricting the home team to a paltry total.

India surrender in front of Marufa Akter

As has been the trend in the entire series, the Indian women's team have found it tough on the pitches in this tour. Smriti Mandhana's poor form hasn't helped India's cause, as the Indian side have failed to put up a fight with the bat in hand.

The top 5 wickets went back in the hut, with just 61 on the board. Marufa Akter, was the chief destroyer as the seamer picked up 4 for 29 in 7 overs, and broke India's batting backbone.

Deepti Sharma scored a gritty 20, but the run-chase needed someone to accompany her, which didn't happen as the home team takes a 1-0 lead in the series.
