Yashasvi Jaiswal continues his rich vein of form and registered his maiden Test fifty in the ongoing match against West Indies at Dominica.
The youngster, who got his first opportunity in the ongoing series grabbed it with both hands and smashed his fifty in 104 deliveries to strengthen India's position.
He joins an elite list, comprising of Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, and others as the players to have scored a fifty on Test debut.
After the West Indies were bundled out for 150, courtesy of a 5-wicket haul from Ravichandran Ashwin, Jaiswal, alongside Rohit Sharma gave India a flying start and has put them in the driving seat. The 21-year-old started cautiously, but cut loose with an upper cut over point and never looked back.
There was a mix of caution and aggression as the innings progressed. The southpaw ended Day 1 on 40, and continued Day 2 in the same fashion as he added 10 more runs to bring up his maiden fifty in Test cricket.
Jaiswal , who averages 80.21 in 15 first-class matches, will be eying his first Test century after a solid start to his international career. At the time of writing, India are 106 for no loss after the 35th over mark.
