One of the most prodigious talents in the country, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has been making waves in the cricketing community in the last six months. The testament to his rich vein of form is his stunning performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and most recently, his immediate impact in the international circuit.

Making his Test debut in the first match against West Indies in Dominica, Jaiswal stunned spectators by scoring a whopping 171 runs. His outstanding knock steered India to a massive victory by an innings and 141 runs. The 21-year-old debutant's performance was duly recognized with the 'Player of The Match' award.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s house and IPL salary

Jaiswal has had to work extremely hard in the domestic arena and the IPL after which he managed to a well-deserved spot in India's Test cricket team, and more notably, realized his dream of owning a house in his beloved Mumbai.

The southpaw's journey to stardom is an inspirational one. He hails from a modest background, where hardships like sleeping in tents, selling pani puris on the streets and even climbing trees to catch a glimpse of IPL matches were part of his early cricketing years.

His professional career took flight in 2020 when he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for a handsome 2.40 crore rupees. He retained his position for the 2021 season, playing for the same salary.

Ahead of the 2022 mega auction, the Royals recognized his potential and Jaiswal’s IPL salary was boosted as he was retained by the franchise for an amount of INR 4 crore. Jaiswal’s IPL salary remained the same for IPL 2023.

This substantial IPL income paved the way for Jaiswal to fulfill his primary aspiration – owning a house in Mumbai. Even as he was marking his Test debut with a sensational century in Dominica, his family back in Thane was busy moving into their new five-bedroom flat.

Moving from a rented two-bedroom apartment in Santa Cruz, the shift to their own home has been a significant one for the Jaiswal family.

While speaking to The Indian Express, Tejsvi, Jaiswal's brother revealed how Jaiswal had repeatedly expressed his desire for the move to the new house.

"He kept telling us, ‘please shift soon, I don’t want to stay in this house’. Even during the Test match, he would ask about our shifting plans. All his life, he had just one wish, to have his own house. You know how he has come up, he understands the importance of a roof over his head, especially in Mumbai,” said Tejsvi.

The future indeed appears promising for Jaiswal. With the second Test on the horizon, he will aim to sustain his exceptional form, followed by making his mark in India's white-ball cricket. Considering his current momentum and sheer talent, it wouldn't be a surprise if we soon see him as a permanent fixture across all formats in the Indian team.
