WI vs IND: Jaiswal, Rohit's Sublime Centuries Puts India in Driving Seat at Dominica

Yashasvi Jaiswal lived up to the hype and achieved a phenomenal feat as the Indian opener notched up his maiden Test ton in his first international innings. Overall, Jaiswal became the 17th Indian batter to notch up a century on Test debut.

He was ably supported by the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, who too, went on to register a scintillating century, but was eventually dismissed for a well-crafted 103. Heading into the Tea break, India are 245 for 2, with Virat Kohli and Jaiswal at the crease.

Double century stand by the Indian openers

The two openers continued from where they left at the lunch break. Resuming at 146, Rohit and Jaiswal soak up a few deliveries, but once the dust settled, they took the attack to the opposition. The absence of Rahkeem Cornwall didn't help West Indies' cause either, as the all-rounder left the field due to a chest infection.

Once Jaiswal and Rohit crossed the 70-run barrier, they displayed a great array of stroke-making and there was nothing that skipper Kraigg Brathwaite could do about it.

As time went by, the West Indian hope faded somewhere in Dominica as Jaiswal, who hardly looked unfazed brought up his maiden Test century, and there was a sense of relief in the mind of the youngster, as he reached a new height.

The opening duo punished the West Indian bowlers and added 229 for the opening wicket, before Rohit was sent back for 103 by debutant Alick Athanaze.

Shubman Gill, joined Jaiswal and couldn't continue the good work as the right-handed batter was dismissed cheaply for a mere 6. There were some nervy moments post Gill's dismissal as Virat Kohli survived a close lbw shout, but the ball was missing the stumps.

Expectations from the last session

India are in the driving seat at the moment. However, two quick wickets before Tea has given West Indies something to cheer about. India will hope Jaiswal and Kohli can pile on more runs in the next session.

For the Windies, they'll be eager to get the wickets of Kohli and Jaiswal in the next session to spice things up.
