On Sunday, August 25, Bangladesh scripted history as they beat Pakistan for the first time in Test cricket history.

Pakistan started off the Test on a high as they put 448 runs on the board in the first innings. Mohammad Rizwan was stranded on 171 runs as Shan Masood declared the innings after rain-shortened play on day 1.

From the first day, Pakistan's intention were clear to have a result, but the declaration backfired as Bangladesh put 565 runs on the board.

Things went south for the hosts in the second innings as they tumbled for just 146 and Bangladesh chased down the target with ease and registered a 10-wicket win.

Updated WTC Standings

The defeat has left a huge impact on Pakistan's chances to qualify for the WTC 2025 final, as the Shan Masood-led side have now slipped to 8th on the table. Only the West Indies are below them.

In the ongoing 2023-25 WTC cycle, Pakistan have just two wins in six games.

Talking about Bangladesh, they have climbed to 6th on the table with two wins in five games.

Meanwhile, India continue to maintain a stronghold at the top of the table with six wins in nine games.

Pakistan Fail To Etch History

In the ongoing series, Pakistan also had the opportunity to complete 150 Test wins, but now with a defeat, they can reach to 149 Test wins even if they win the 2nd match scheduled at Rawalpindi.
