The first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium turned out to be quite a disappointing one for the home side as they ended up losing the match by 10 wickets. It is Pakistan's first loss in Test cricket against Bangladesh, and the fact that the pitch was quite flat and they still lost 9 wickets on the final day would hurt the home fans even more.

To add to their misery, Pakistan players and support staff themselves thought that the pitch was not conducive to produce result, and time and again mentioned that the pitch was not what they expected.

Naseem Shah was one of those Pakistan players who after the end of Day 4 said that they have been getting flat pitches for a long time and PCB need to think about how their team can extract home advantage and find a way to produce results.

“We need to be honest. It’s been too many series where we get these types of pitches. The groundstaff tried their best to make this pitch good for bowling, but perhaps because of the heat and sunshine there isn’t much help from the pitch. We need to think about how to extract home advantage, because you have to find a way to produce results from these games, otherwise you’re not utilising home advantage.”

The fast bowler also added that if they are incapable of producing tracks for the pacers, they should atleast be spinner friendly and stated that the fans who come to the ground to watch Test cricket in heat should get entertained.

“If we’re incapable of making the sort of pitches that help fast bowlers, then we should look at whether we can produce spin wickets,” he said. “However you do it, you need to use home advantage. People come to enjoy Test cricket in this heat, so you need to entertain them."

Pakistan Lose 9 Wickets On Day 5

However, Pakistan batters disappointed big time, and Bangladesh spinners extracted decent help from the pitch to knock over the home team for just 146. Pakistan did not play even a single frontline spinner in their XI, and it clearly showed that the home team misread the conditions and were thoroughly outplayed with both bat and ball.
