Australian Women completed a 3-0 routing of their Indian counterparts with another comprehensive win, this time at the WACA Stadium in Perth on Wednesday, December 11. Annabel Sutherland notched up her career-best ODI score in the game to outclass Smriti Mandhana’s fighting run-chase efforts.
Here’s the timeline of how AUS-W vs IND-W panned out in Perth:
AUS-W vs IND-W Highlights: Arundhati Reddy Blows Away Australian Top 4
In-form Australian openers Phoebe Litchfield (25 off 33) and Georgia Voll (26 off 30) raised another 50-plus stand by carting 58 runs in the first 10 overs of the match. For India, fast bowler Arundhati Reddy yielded the opening breakthrough with a two-wicket over, that of both well-set openers in the space of just four deliveries.
Reddy also knocked over celebrated Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry for just four, and had Beth Mooney out stumped for 10 as the hosts slipped to 78-4 in 16.1 overs.
AUS-W vs IND-W Highlights: Annabel Sutherland Lifts Australia To 298
Forming forces with fellow all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner at 78-4, Annabel Sutherland at number five cracked her second ODI century, bringing up the landmark figure from just 93 balls with a six off Deepti Sharma. Sutherland glittered her knock with nine boundaries and four huge sixes, and ended up hauling 110 runs from 95 balls overall to set up 298-6 for her team.
Gardner herself made 50 runs from 64 balls with five boundaries while interim captain Tahlia McGrath belted an unbeaten 50-ball 56 to turbo-charge the Australian innings in the slog overs.
For India, Deepti Sharma took the wicket of Gardner in the 34th over of the innings. Meanwhile, Renuka Singh Thakur, Saima Thakor and Titas Sadhu all went wicketless in their respective spells.
AUS-W vs IND-W Highlights: Mandhana Sets Up Exciting Chase With 105
Overcoming the early loss of Richa Ghosh to Megan Schutt, her senior opening partner Smriti Mandhana mounted her ninth ODI century while forming rebellious partnerships with Harleen Deol, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues.
The Indian vice-captain crafted 105 regal runs from 109 balls with 14 boundaries and a six and shared 118 for the second wicket with Deol (39 off 64) until the latter was caught-and-bowled by Alana King. Mandhana’s resistance was eventually halted by Australian spinner Ashleigh Gardner in the 36th over of the run-chase.
AUS-W vs IND-W Highlights: Indian Response Comes Crumbling Down In Monumental Choke
The Indian lower-order failed to pile on the early momentum as their response came crumbling down in yet another monumental batting collapse. Soon after castling Smriti Mandhana, Australian off-spinner Ashleigh Gardner added four more Indian batters to her tally to snare career-best ODI figures of 5-30.
Alana King and Megan Schutt also picked up two wickets each as hosts Australia secured a comprehensive 83-run victory to seal the three-match series 3-0.
