The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is set to make a wild call in the middle of Asia Cup 2023. Due to persistent rain in Sri Lanka, which has been affecting the ongoing edition ever since its beginning, the board will change the venues of the Super Four rounds' five fixtures, which were originally scheduled to play at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

The new venue is set to be Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota. Meanwhile, the other Super Four match, which Pakistan will play at Lahore's Multan Stadium, will remain the same.

Colombo has been heavily affected by the rain in the past few days. Hence, it was a serious concern whether five matches would be possible to get a result in the crucial round of the Asia Cup.

The rain has had a significant negative impact on Colombo over the past few days. Therefore, it was very uncertain whether five matches in the crucial Asia Cup round would produce a result at R. Premadasa Stadium. Because of this, the ACC plans to implement the changes.

Not only this, the Asia Cup 2023 final is also scheduled to take place at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Although there is no clarity on this, it is highly possible that the final venue will be shifted as well.
