Former Indian Test cricketer, Aakash Chopra, issued a big statement during India Nepal Asia Cup match. The cricketer turned expert-commentator strongly believes India (read BCCI) should 'adopt' Nepal cricket. He strongly believes for the betterment of the game BCCI should initiate this step.

Nepal are playing their first-ever international match against India in the Asia Cup 2023. The Nepalese side has shown courage and positive intent on the field. This impressed all the spectators including former cricket internationals.

Earlier former Pakistan legend Wasim Akram shared good wishes to Nepal on the eve of their first match against Pakistan. And now, from India Aakash Chopra has come forward and taken one step further. Chopra feels BCCI to take up the responsibility to 'speed up' with international cricket.

"India must adopt Nepal cricket and make it their responsibility to bring them up to speed with International Cricket. Send the A team to Nepal. Involve them in India’s domestic structure (I remember India-A playing a full first-class season in Windies). The passion for cricket in Nepal is unparalleled…and they have the potential too," Chopra tweeted.

As per the former Indian opener, if gigantic cricket administration body like BCCI take the responsibility, Nepal can go a long way. For this, he suggested some ways how this can be done. He added, if India A team can travel to Nepal and arrange a proper cricketing tour there it will benefit their cricket.

Coming to the the Nepali openers gave a brilliant start, adding 65 runs in 9.5 overs; however, sensational bowling from the spinners scripted a comeback for India at Pallekele. Eventually, the batting side ended with 230 all-out in a rain-marred affair.
