Arshdeep Singh delivered a standout performance in the final round of the Duleep Trophy 2024. He took career-best figures of 6 for 40 to lead India D to a commanding 257-run victory over India B.

Despite his regular presence in India's white-ball squads, Arshdeep continues to await his maiden Test call-up, and his remarkable show in the marquee tournament further strengthens his case for selection in the red-ball format.

Arshdeep Singh's Significant Contribution In Duleep Trophy

Talking about the match, India D set a challenging target of 373 for India B. In the chase, India B crumbled under pressure and was bowled out for a mere 115 in just 22.2 overs. Arshdeep Singh, alongside Vidarbha pacer Aditya Thakare, accounted for all ten wickets in the second innings.

Arshdeep's nine-wicket haul (9 for 90) over the match was instrumental in securing a consolation win for India D in the tournament.

The left-arm pacer was particularly lethal in the second innings, as he dismantled India B's batting lineup with precision. His dismissals included key players like Suryakumar Yadav, who managed just 5 and 16 in his first-class return after more than a year.

Nitish Kumar Reddy put up some resistance for India B and remained unbeaten on 40, but Arshdeep fittingly claimed the final wicket to seal the match before tea on the fourth day.

Arshdeep’s performance in this match, which saw him achieve his career-best figures and only his second five-wicket haul in first-class cricket, sent a clear message to the selectors.

Having been part of India's victorious 2024 T20 World Cup squad, and his current form in white-ball cricket makes him a strong contender for India's maiden Test call-up.
