Cricket fans were treated to a heart-warming throwback moment at the Mullanpur Stadium in New Chandigarh, where two of India’s most iconic match-winners, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh were spotted sharing a warm reunion before the 2nd T20I between India and South Africa. Cameras captured the duo exchanging smiles, handshakes, and hugs, instantly lighting up social media timelines with nostalgia.

A nostalgic reunion of India’s 2007 & 2011 World Cup legends

For many, seeing these two giants of Indian cricket together ahead of the 2nd T20I between India and South Africa brought back a flood of memories from India’s golden era. Both Gambhir and Yuvraj were crucial pillars in India’s triumphs at the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, tournaments that reshaped the nation’s cricketing legacy.

Yuvraj Singh needs no introduction. His six sixes against England, a brilliant semi-final knock against Australia in the 2007 T20 World Cup, and all-round mastery as the 2011 World Cup Player of the Tournament are all etched in cricketing folklore.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir thrived on the biggest occasions. His gritty 75 in the 2007 T20 World Cup final set India on the path to victory, and his 97 in the 2011 World Cup final steadied the team toward glory.

Years later, seeing these two legends together at the venue before the game reminded fans of India’s most unforgettable cricketing moments. One is now coaching the senior men’s team, while Yuvraj Singh was also present and honoured.
