Suryakumar Yadav showcased his fielding prowess with a game-changing catch that helped India clinch victory against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. 

South Africa, poised to win with 30 runs needed from 30 balls, saw their hopes dashed by Yadav's stunning boundary catch off David Miller's powerful hit.

In a video shared by the BCCI, Indian fielding coach T. Dilip lauded Suryakumar's remarkable catch, and Suryakumar Yadav received the Best Fielder of the Match award from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. 

SKY, elated, proudly displayed both his T20 World Cup medal and the best fielding medal. This recognition was for his 'World Cup-winning' catch in the final over, a pivotal moment that sealed India's victory.

The T20 World Cup 2024 final was an epic showdown between two unbeaten teams. South Africa, looking strong, was brought to its knees by Yadav's incredible 'clutch moment.' 

As the first ball of the final over soared high off Miller's bat, Yadav demonstrated exceptional presence of mind. He caught the ball but, realizing he might lose balance, threw it in the air, stepped outside the boundary, and then re-entered the play area to complete the catch.

Though some fans speculated that Yadav's foot had touched the rope, the catch stood, significantly altering the game's outcome. This spectacular fielding effort earned Suryakumar Yadav the Fielder of the match award, highlighting his invaluable contribution to India's triumph.
